Houston’s Run for the Fallen

This Memorial Day weekend, please set aside some time and “Run to Remember

Memorial Park Conservancy’s – Houston’s Run for the Fallen is not a fundraiser, it is strictly a memorial event to honor our fallen Houston-area service members who have died in the line of battle.

The format is very simple. During Memorial Day weekend, we ask everyone to run or walk one mile, or more if you choose, wherever you are – in your neighborhood, at the park, on your treadmill, with your friends, with your children, with your neighbors, or alone.

Running with a U.S. Flag is totally optional, but we do ask that you try to find a flag (any size) right before, during or after your run to take a few moments to thank your hero for their sacrifice. A great way to do this is to read their name and rank (out loud or quietly to yourself), observe a moment of silence, and, if appropriate for you, salute.

Let’s honor their memories and remind their families that they are not forgotten.

REGISTER: Click on the “REGISTRATION” page and choose who you would like to honor – then fill out the information.

LET US KNOW IF YOUR MILES CHANGED:  If you registered and need to correct the number of miles reported, go to the “Contact Us” page and just let us know that you walked “a total of 10 miles instead of 5” or whatever the case may be.

SEND US A VISUAL: Send us a photo when you are done and we will post the photos on the website and on our social media pages. If you have a flag you want to carry, one you want to plant in your yard to let us know that you honor and remember, or you want to wear something patriotic, we’d love to see it. You do not have to send a photo to participate if you prefer not to do so, but we’d love to see you and photos will allow us all to have a visual of the day.

During the event weekend, we will be tallying the total number of miles and posting the results!

Thank you for participating!

You can choose a hero or we can choose one for you!
